AUDITIONS OPEN FOR HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI ANZAC DAY SPECIAL

23 March 2008

Roll up, roll up! Māori Television’s popular live-to-air karaoke show HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI invites wannabe singing stars to audition for a one-off ANZAC Day special to screen on Friday April 25 at 8.00 PM.

As part of the channel’s all-day broadcast – Ā TĀTOU TAONGA: ANZAC DAY 2008 – the music show fronted by Te Hāmua Nikora will feature songs that hold special ANZAC significance to the performers.

Producer Erina Tamepo says the energetic, entertaining and emotional evening will be broadcast live from Māori Television’s Auckland studio and will showcase compositions loved by many as well as lesser known tunes – “all with an ANZAC theme at their core”.

Organisers are eager to involve people from all over the country so there is an open call for audition tapes to be sent to Māori Television. Anyone wanting a chance to contribute to the programme should record themselves performing a song with an ANZAC connection and explain in a few sentences what it means to them before sending it in.

Auditions for the non-competitive show will also be held in Auckland at Māori Television on Sunday April 6 from 1.00 PM to 5.00 PM and – for the first time ever – in Invercargill at Invercargill Working Men’s Club on Sunday April 13 from 10.00 AM to 4.30 PM.

To submit an audition tape, send a VHS or DVD to: ANZAC Team, Māori Television, PO Box 113 017, Newmarket, Auckland 1149.To register your interest in auditioning in either Auckland or Invercargill, email anzacday@maoritelevision.com.

Be a part of the ANZAC magic – with the HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI ANZAC SPECIAL – live on Māori Television on Friday April 25 at 8.00 PM. Text ANZAC to 3553 (text messages cost 20c each) to book your 5.45 AM wake-up text on ANZAC Day.
